New episode of MOVIE NEWS where I talk about the first images of Josh Brolin as Cable and Stephen Lang returning for all of the Avatar sequels as the villain. Comment below and let me know what you think of this news.
This past weekend at Comic-Con Warner Bros. confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 was in active development, and as of today the film now has a release date.
Warner Bros. says that their Wonder Woman sequel will hit theaters on December 13, 2019. Director Patty Jenkins is still in talks to return, but a deal has not been finalized.
That gives us at least one confirmed DCEU movie for 2019. Shazam, which begins production in early 2018, is also targeting a 2019 release. There’s also a possibility that The Batman helmed by director Matt Reeves and starring Ben Affleck might make a summer 2019 release.

What’s really interesting is that if you look closely at the monitor in the background you can see what appears to be Chewbacca and another Wookiee. Could this be Chewie’s wife, or son Lumpawaroo in the film? It’s hard to say at this point, but it’s a strong possibility!
The untitled Han Solo film is scheduled to be released on May 25, 2018.

Avengers: Infinity War debuted a teaser trailer earlier today at D-23 but not only that, we now have Thanos’ henchmen. The group was referred to as Thanos’ children, but in the comics they are known as the Black Order. From left to right we have Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Thanos himself, Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf.
Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel are being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo with a script from Captain America: Winter Soldier and Civil War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Matt Reeves stepped into replace star Ben Affleck as director on the project earlier this year, recently revealed on MTVs Happy Sad Confused Podcast that he scrapped the earlier script that Affleck, Chris Terrio and DC’s Geoff Johns had worked on.
When asked if he would be working with Affleck’s script, Reeves said, “No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”
Reeves is planning a noir, detective driven take on the character. In the original script, Deadstroke was the villain, with Joe Manganiello cast. (Reeves did not say if he plans on using Deathstroke in his script.)

While on the press tour for his film ‘War For The Planet of The Apes’ Director Matt Reeves has really been showing his excitement for his next project The Batman. In an interview today with UPROXX he explained that he was given assurances that he could make the movie the way he wanted.
Here’s a excerpt from the interview:
So the answer is yes, you did want assurances [before signing on to The Batman]. Maybe assurances isn’t the right word…
Reeves: No, it is.
So you are telling them, “Here’s what I want to do with Batman”?
Reeves: Yeah. When I come in, what I say is, “Look. First of all, you’re asking me if I’m interested in this franchise. I am. I love this franchise. I’ve loved it since I was a kid. But here’s the way in which I’m interested in it. And if you’re not interested in it in that way, then that’s totally fine.” And the good news was, they said, “Yeah, we’re really interested in that way.” And I remember this on Dawn, too. There would be moments where I came in for a pitch that was a certain version of the movie, and somewhere along the way, because they didn’t know me or whatever it was, they’d say, “Why don’t we do this?” And I would just simply say, “But that’s not the movie that we talked about. That’s not the movie I want to do.” And I have to say that they always backed down when it came down to that. And it’s kind of the way that I’ve always done it. And here’s the thing: I’m always happy not to do something. I’m usually looking for the reason to say no.
This is great and positive news given the negative stories that we’ve read about Warner Bros. tampering with the director cuts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Matt Reeves is a phenomenal director and should be given the opportunity to make the Batman movie he wants to make.
Warner Bros. was previously in talks with Mel Gibson to take on the sequel to last year’s Villainous team-up which was directed by David Ayer but WB is now interested in having Collet-Serra helm the project. THR has revealed that script delays have pushed back the production causing Mel Gibson to moving on. A new script is being written by Zak Penn (Avengers, Ready Player One). The studio is aiming at a mid-2018 start date for production.
